I wasn't too shocked or surprised to hear that it was teenagers who started the brush fires in Chesterfield this past week. I found it disgusting that a 62 year old man would poison the oaks on Toomer's corner. An attempt to destroy a tradition only leads me to believe that the individual must have some serious mental problems. But what really troubles me is the news report I saw last night on the CBS evening news. Doctors were handing out excuses to teachers who decided to call in sick. This would allow them to get paid for the days they missed while out protesting. These are the teachers who "deserve better treatment". Who's more despicable? The doctors or the teachers. I don't have enough information to know who's right in the whole Wisconsin matter. I know I can't trust what I've heard in the liberal or conservative media. This I do know, lying and dishonesty are not what children need modeled for them. Those traits come natural.

Despicable Deeds

Training for the Monument Ave. 10K?

I've stopped using the ijustran application on FB. I began to feel like FB wasn't the place to share that information because most of my FB friends could probably care less how many miles I ran this morning. The dailymile site is exclusive to running or exercise. I only have 2 friends on the site now. My first friend added me because I was running the Richmond marathon. We were able to encourage one another even though we had never met. He's from another state. The other friend is a local RVA runner. I've been able to glean some great information about doing my first ultra from him.
The site also has some neat features besides serving as a training journal. For example in the Lifetime stats section I've burned 178 donuts and run enough to power 582 tvs. Log enough miles and it will tell you how many times you've circled the globe. You can also join a race event group and follow others who will be doing that event. The 10K group has close to 50 other dailymile members.
If you are doing the Ukrops 10K, I recommend you create an account and encourage others to join you on the dailymile. Please look me up and add me as a friend. I'm not doing the Monument Ave. this year, but I would really like to encourage you in your efforts.
